Welcome to our first Master Tasting Collection box. 5 excellent rock oolong teas, comprising rock teas from different locations, aging and oxidation/roasting levels. It is ideal for tasting a wide curated selection, compare and finding one's own preferences and taste.

Rock oolong teas are one of the most popular and highly praised teas both in China and by the international tea community. Rock teas are well known for their richly complex flavour and fragrance, usually filled with a range that goes from fruity, floral to mineral and species notes.

5 ROCK TEAS

• 2021 "Qidan" Da Hong Pao (25g.): DHP hardly needs any introduction. One of "China's Top 10 Famous Teas" and probably the most well-known oolong not only in China but across the globe. This DHP is a purebred "full rock" that grows in the Wuyi Mountains, in Fujian Province. As a purebred DHP, its rock rhyme and mineral flavours are very present into it, more than it could be in most of the blended versions of DHP, however the fruity and fragrant flowery notes, as well as the warmth and sweet of the charcoal roast are still making of this a perfectly balanced tea.

• 2021 Mei Zhan (25g.): Mei Zhan is a relatively unheard-of Fujian province varietal. Meizhan, said to have originated in Anxi, is pretty much of a migrant cultivar, that has already been in the Wuyi Mountains, according to estimations, for about 300 hundred years - nowadays known as "Wuyi Meizhan" (武夷梅占 ) - and where it developed unique characteristics and flavours, as well as a group of connoisseur followers. This Meizhan is also a "full rock" that grows in the Foguo Rock (佛国岩) of the National Reserve of the Wuyi Mountains. Wuyi Meizhan is a relatively lower oxidated rock tea and it comes along with a more unique and highly floral and umami taste as well as a touch of spiciness. It is a party of flavour in your palate. As a purebred tea - in opposition to blends - presents its true self with the above characterics while keeping the gentle mineral and charcoal notes of a Rock Tea.

• 2016 Buddha's Hand (25g.): This 2016 Foshou comes directly from Yongchun, Fujian province, the very region considered as the birthplace for Foshou varietal, it is indeed often referred as Yongchun Foshou, where it has a cultivation history of around 300 years. Aging is beautifully mellowing and smoothing flavours and textures of this Buddha's Hand, developing very nuanced flavours. Dry leaves are pure cocoa and with spices clove-like notes on the nose. After soaking the leaves the aroma on the lid and leaves becomes more floral, while certain woody sweetness comes into play as well.

• 2016 Shuixian (25g.): same as our Foshou, is also grown in Yongchun County, Fujian Province. Shuixian tea trees grow wildly at an altitude of 600m. above sea level.second roasting at 115ºC

• 2020 Rougui (25g.): Rougui is a Wuyi local bush variety that sprouts later than most of its peers in the region. This Rougui is a Banyan (半岩) or Half Rock as it grows in the BaPing Rock (八坪岩) of the Wuyi National Reserve. It is a lightly roasted “Flower and Fruit Aroma Rougui” (花果香肉桂), where the flowery notes are very noticeable at the first few steeps, to becoming into more fruity notes at later steeps
